It’s been 10 years since we first saw GTA III from Rockstar on the Sony PlayStation 2 and now, the game has been made available on Android, as well as select iOS devices.
Likewise, the list of supported Android devices is select and at the moment quite minimal unfortunately. However Rockstar are working on further support for the game, with the next phone to be supported likely to be the recently released Ice Cream Sandwich powered Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Grand Theft Auto III is available on the Android Market now for £3.23. You will need to have a Wifi connection while downloading as, after purchasing the game and downloading the initial installation file, there is a further 440 megabytes to download.
The following Android phones and tablets are currently supported:
HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, T-Mobile G2x
Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
Reports are also coming in that, GTA III makes use of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play’s touchpad controls.
